If you or someone you know has cancer, you may have many questions and concerns. The Supportive Care Program can help you and your family through this difficult time. We are a group of professionals trained to help you and your family deal with the psychological, emotional, social, spiritual, physical and day-to-day issues brought on by the illness.
Within the team are people with various skills such as:
Dietitians: help you plan what foods you will need to maintain your strength and provide your body with good nutrition despite any side effects of treatments you may experience.
Social Workers: help you and your family cope with the diagnosis, prepare for treatment, get through treatment, as well as assist in accessing community resources.
Clinical Neuropsychologist: assesses brain function and treats cognitive and psychological deficits related to cancer and its treatment.
Physiotherapists: help you deal with the physical effects of cancer and maintain mobility during and after treatment.
Speech Language Pathologists: help you with difficulties with speaking and/or difficulties with swallowing, as a result of cancer of the head and neck.
