Transportation Assistance:

If you live in Northern Ontario in the Districts of Algoma, Nipissing, Cochrane, Kenora, Manitoulin, Parry Sound, Rainy River, Sudbury, Timmins or Thunder Bay and have traveled more than 100 kilometres (60 miles) one-way to see one of our specialists at the Northeast Cancer Centre of Health Sciences North, you are eligible for a travel grant through the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

A travel grant does not cover all of your travel expenses, but will help defray the overall cost of the trip.

A northern physician or surgeon will need to initiate the travel grant before the travel takes place. Please bring that travel grant with you in order to have it signed by the specialist that you have been referred to.

If you require more information, please access the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care website at: www.health.gov.on.ca and refer to the Application for Northern Health Travel Grant (form 0327-88) or call 1-800-461-4006 (for service in English) or 1-800-461-1149 (for service in French).
